Liveness
Liveness is a group exhibition showcasing the experimental works of 21 young Colombian artists in unconventional spaces throughout the Bogotá Museum of Modern Art (MAMBO). It serves as a survey of contemporary "live arts", encompassing video documentation, moving images, photography, video installations, objects, residual traces, sound pieces, and live actions. Through experimental practices involving the body, time, and space, these works aim to offer the viewer a unique and immersive experience.
The exhibition's repertoire highlights new experimental practices that deliberately break with traditional ideas associated with performance art , continuing a trend that fractured conventional Colombian art techniques starting in the late 20th century.
In alignment with MAMBO's history as a pioneer in collecting and exhibiting time-based arts since the 1970s, the works featured in Liveness will enrich the Museum's collection. Through this exhibition, MAMBO aims to reopen a space to spotlight the experimental artistic production of young Colombian artists, reinforcing its historical commitment to experimentation and the promotion of conceptual art within the Colombian context.
